Heh. Creeped the hell out of a passing National Guardsman when I glanced at the just-refilled tank of a water cooler and remarked "now that's a lot of bomb fuel."

He basically demanded an explanation on the spot, so I gave him the 25-cent rundown on water cracking and the chemistry involved...edging toward the bus stop the entire time. I half thought he was gonna grab me when it finally rolled by and I set a world record for boarding a bus.

Am I the only one that's thought how bad it would be if someone had a billy joel album on shuffle on their iPod, forgot where they were and started singing aloud to Miami 2017 (See the Lights go out on Broadway) or something else similar to that scenario? If you don't know the song, you can find the lyrics at
          http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1602
or hear it at
          www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DXA8IwfPUTqg

He has a very valid point. However when laptop batteries "explode" they mostly melt down their plastic encasements... and if you are not quick enough, your plastic laptop. The biggest hazard is the toxic smoke that is being emitted.

it is SO HARD to not go through a list of things you're carrying that are more dangerous than the thing they're complaining about if you get hassled by security, though!

... yes, I've been there. But I managed to not speak.
