More Accurate

by Jeff

Image text: We live in a world where there are actual fleets of robot assassins patrolling the skies. At some point there, we left the present and entered the future.

This is a comic referencing the Terminator series , in which a super-intelligent machine from the future time travels back in time to kill Sarah Connor.

However, we currently have robots that are able to attack specific locations and targets.  Originally, unmanned aerial vehicles were only used for surveillance and reconnaissance.  But, now more than ever, they are used for attacks.  One thing that keeps us short of a Terminator scenario is that most of the unmanned aerial vehicles are either pre-programmed or flown remotely by members of the military.  Still, the image text is correct, the future is here.

  1. Let us not forget that the drone is a Predator, another movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. It’s a cross over! Instead of Alien v Predator, it’s Predator v Sarah Conner Chronicles.

  2. Arnold was not in the predator, but yes it is cross-referencing

  3. Perhaps you meant he was not in Alien, in which case, yes, you’re right. I just used that as the name of a movie title that I could play off of “Predator v Sarah Conner Chronicles”.

  4. We crossed from present to future roughly around November 2006.

  5. The flying robots seen in the Terminator series could already happen, from the 2-engined fighter-bombers to the big cargo ones that kidnapped people.

Vehicular robots aren’t feasible yet due to navigation difficulties. Navigating a well-maintained, safe road is about the best they can do, and they need a ton of extra equipment to do it.

Ground-pounders won’t be around for quite some time. The Army is just now getting into powered exoskeletons.
