This one is pretty straightforward as science always looks more fun and it always takes a lot less time in the movies and on TV. As you can see in the movie montage, they complete 4 experiments, while in real life they only complete 1.

Also, in the movie science montage, with those four experiments they are able to nail down a very specific piece of evidence to a single possible source with absolute certainty.
In the actual science montage, they’ve only “probably” determined the absence of a couple of elements from a sample.

Helvetica scenario comes from a BBC show called “Look Around You.” The pilot episode “Calcium” explains the nature of the Helvetica scenario, and why precautions must be taken when storing calcium, in order to protect people from Helvetica.
