Snow Tracking
by Jeff
Image text: I suppose that's more accurately a hare dryer.
Moose and Squirrel is a reference to the Rocky and Bullwinkle series of cartoons.
Longcat is a internet meme from pictures of cats all stretched out that make them look very tall (or long).
Mouse riding Bicycle is a reference to Ralph S. Mouse, a series of novels by Beverly Cleary.
The image text is a pun on the Rabbit with a hair dryer frame.
Legolas is a reference to the character by the same name in the Lord of the Rings trilogy of books and movies.
Knight is a chess reference as the tracks move just like the knight piece in chess.
The two "Kid with" frames are a reference to Calvin and Hobbes.
Prius is a reference to current events in which the car Toyota Prius's pedals have malfunctioned causing accidents.
The final frame is the Higgs Boson which is an elementary particle they are attempting to find evidence of in the Large Hadron Collider.
Anyone know what the Bobcat on a Pogo Stick is a reference to? That's the only one I can't get.

Bobcat refers to Tigger from Winnie the Pooh show?

The bobcat is a running joke: xkcd.com/325 followed by xkcd.com/576 (see the alt text), mentioned twice on the wiki: http://wiki.xkcd.com/geohashing/2008-06-30_47_-122 and http://wiki.xkcd.com/geohashing/2009-02-22_36_-77
No idea about the pogo stick, probably just funny because it’s completely ridiculous.

Hey, you didn’t explain why Legolas would leave no footprints!
February 15th, 2010
Because he’s made out of legos. Duh!

There’s a scene in The Fellowship of the Ring, where Gandalf tries to guide the fellowship through mount Caradhras. Saruman spoils the weather and there’s lots of snow, making the travel impossible. In that scene you can see Legolas walking freely on the snow (no footprints!), while other team members are struggling to dig through at least 1m of snow.

The Duplicator refers to Primer.

The Duplicator is a refence to a Calvin and Hobbs Story line (Scientific Progress goes Boink) In this story, Calvin invents a device which allows him to instantly duplicate himself. His intent is to create a clone that will do all the hard work for him, but hell unleashes when he realizes that the clone, being exactly like him, is just as much of an asshole as he is. Calvin #2 manages to create Calvins #3-6, and they all cause chaos because they know that Calvin #1 will have to pay for it. It’s just about the best alibi a kid could have. It probably reaches its climax when Calvin’s mom sees #4 glued to the television when he’s supposed to be doing chores and yells, “What are you doing watching TV?” #4 replies casually, “Why, are you taking a survey?”

Also, Calvin’s duplicator is a cardboard box resting on its side, while his transmogrifier is a cardboard box resting on its open end.

The longcat internet meme actually refers to one particular cat that happened to be very long in real life.

I like your blog theme. What template did you use ?

How is it that just anybody can write a blog and get as popular as this? Its not like you’ve said anything incredibly impressive –more like youve painted a pretty picture over an issue that you know nothing about! I dont want to sound mean, here. But do you really think that you can get away with adding some pretty pictures and not really say anything?

Blogging is like fine art in the equation :
Fine Art = I could have done that + Yeah, but you didn’t

The pogostick + bobcat indeed refers to the running gag of bobcats being sent for ebay transactions. The pogostick could actually be the person’s original order, with the bobcat being bundled in with it (and thus having access to it) rather than replacing it entirely.
