I find it odd that no one here has speculated on what the other four identified situations in which a vuvuzela is actually appropriate might be.
Anyone?
And no, World Cup games do not count as appropriate.

It is also impractical (Though not as impractical as a trumpet) to carry around an air horn the whole time. The point being, the pay-off is worth the effort.

In the UK, the expression is “blow my own trumpet”, and it would be impractical to carry a trumpet around the whole time.
