Wasteland
You make forgetting look so easy.
Title text: You make forgetting look so easy.

Explanation

Ambox notice.png This explanation may be incomplete or incorrect: Mostly gets at it, but a little bare.
If you can address this issue, please edit the page! Thanks.

The first two lines of this comic set up an expectation Cueball is fondly remembering his partner during an involuntary separation. The last two lines subvert this expectation by implying that he is deliberately separating himself in order to forget. The title text implies that his (ex-)partner has already forgotten him.

Transcript

[Cueball is walking through a wasteland talking to himself.]
I am alone in this wasteland, a thousand miles from you.
But I haven't forgotten the feel of your skin, your mischievous smile.
You'd think a thousand miles would be enough.
I guess I'll keep walking.

Discussion

Isn't the meaning of the title text that it's so difficult to forget her that forgetting anything else is easy in comparison? -- Bonob (talk) (please sign your comments with ~~~~)

Possibly? Or maybe she is the one who forgot that he existed in a heartbeat, making forgetting someone "look so easy"Viperzer0 (talk) 18:02, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

The headline "Wasteland" may also refer to the state of the life of the speaker, wasting away. Mountain Hikes (talk) 04:30, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

This is clearly not a reference to any What If? article whatsoever, as the first one was posted five years after this comic. As such, I have removed it. 172.70.134.92 01:28, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
