Before Randall acquired the xkcd website, he started by posting comics on LiveJournal (specifically http://xkcd-drawings.livejournal.com/).

When the 41 first comics were transferred to the new xkcd site three extra numbers where added (nos 5, 12 and 36; see why under the LiveJournal entry). This explains why the 52 comics have numbers ranging from 1-55.

  • Only 11 of these comics kept the LiveJournal title completely unchanged when released on xkcd.
