==Explanation==
The comic shows [[Megan]] and [[Black Hat]] talking about lava lakes in volcanoes, when Megan mentions a common myth that in the craters of every volcano, there's a lava lake. She points out that there are really only around five lava-filled volcano craters in the world right now. Black Hat responds to this by creating a new one on a nearby golf course.

The title text mentions that golf balls will float on lava, making recovering them from hazards easier. The density of a normal golf ball is about 1.13 grams per cubic centimeter, which is significantly less than the 2.4 ~ 2.9 grams per cubic centimeter of lava. It would be
very easy to retrieve golf balls from lava because of this, if it were not for the fact that lava is hot.{{Citation Needed}} Lava is around 800 C, while golf balls melt at ~80 C, making retrieving (probably burnt/melted) golf balls from said lava quite difficult.

During the current outbreak of COVID-19, there have been many graphs used by health officials and others to show trends in infection and death rates, typically with the intet of scaring people into following health guidelines to remain home.
This graph, however, while sharing similarities with actual data and graphs is completely useless. This is due to the bizarre data-points being used, as well as the unhelpful graph axes. The caption of the comic notes as much, perhaps indicating that this comic is intended to satirize the useful, but exceptionally detailed graphs that are currently in use.

{{w|Marty McFly}}, played by actor Michael J. Fox, is the main character of the film series ''{{w|Back to the Future (franchise)|Back to the Future}}''.

As it is a popular film and series, many people may dress up as Marty McFly or Doc Brown, the other main character of the series, on {{w|Halloween}}, a holiday on October 31 where it is traditional to dress up in {{w|Halloween costume|different costumes}}.

In the comic, Megan has found a genie lamp. A genie in a lamp is a supernatural being in many stories known to give one or more wishes to its finder. Instead of wishing for multiple wishes, flight, money, or other "traditional" wishes, Megan instead wishes to see the picture of the worst costume Marty McFly on Halloween.

In the final panel, the genie questions why she would wish for something so mundane, when he has the power to grant wishes beyond her wildest dreams. Megan, being savvy of tropes used in fiction, points out that encounters with wish-granting entities often turn out to be traps; genies in fiction will often interpret wishes in ways the wisher did not intend, and particularly mean-spirited ones will {{tvtropes|JackassGenie|twist a mortal's desire into their own personal hell}}. So Megan tries to play it safe by wishing for something innocuous and with little room for harmful side-effects.

The {{w|well-ordering principle}} is a mathematical principle stating that every non-empty set of positive integers contains a least element. This can be applied to Megan's request in that there must exist an "absolute worst" costume of Marty McFly.

: Yes, but that's still not a "mobile home". It's a "motor home" in most states, e.g. Oregon. ORS 801.350 says "'Motor home' means a motor vehicle that: (1) Is reconstructed, permanently altered or originally designed to provide facilities for human habitation; or (2) Has a structure permanently attached to it that would be a camper if the structure was not permanently attached to the motor vehicle." I'm fine with Randall calling this a housecar, but he's wrong when he says the conventional name for it is mobile home. "Mobile home" is a colloquial term for a manufactured home that is delivered on wheels and then usually has its wheels removed, so it becomes stationary for the rest of its life. Randall did just correct the comic. The first version said "this [row] held by this [column]", which would have meant, that e.g. a towtruck is a car held by a car, which is just wrong. It has just be updated to the correct "a this [column] that holds a this [row]". I do not know how to change that here. You're entirely correct on both counts. Lifeboats are carried by other boats, and ships that can carry other ships do exist. This comic also fails to distinguish between boats and ships, and cars, trucks, and trailers.
While a Boathouse is indeed a house for boats, a boat ''trailer'' is usually a trailer and not a car- the name already follows Randell's suggested logic: it's a trailer (characterized by lacking it's own engine, steering, and driver's cabin) that holds one or more boats. In addition, both tow trucks and car carriers are large enough to be properly referred to as trucks (the smallest type of tow truck I know of is built on a pickup truck chassis) and are fully capable to towing or carrying other trucks as well as cars, making the term carcar inaccurate. The failure to distinguish between multiple examples isn't a "bug" here; it's a feature of the productive nature of novel compounding in English. To continue the convention, "boatboat", as a "life-boat" is a mistake. But i don't think Randall is much of a practical sailor. As a native German speaker I've learned in school that compounding nouns in German like "Hausboot" are always written as "house boat" in English, the nouns do not form to a new single noun. And I'm still sure that "Hausbootbriefkasten" (Haus-boot-brief-kasten) still translates literally to something like "house boats letter box" in the original Oxford English domain, while "letterbox of a houseboat" is probably the much better translation. Nonetheless the order at the German ''looong'' noun is still correct: There's a box, for a letter, on a boat, which supports a house. This is yet another comic following the theme of facts that [[:Category:Comics to make one feel old|make one feel old]]. Here, Cueball is telling White Hat that {{w|MC Hammer}} just turned 40, but this is actually less surprising than the truth, that he is actually over ten years older than that. The caption explains that this is another one of Randall's many hobbies, that he likes to tell inaccurate "feel old" facts which are less dramatic than the truth; this creates a one-two punch effect when the audience looks it up and finds out that the truth makes them feel even older. This is continued in the title text, when even the corrections are both "lowballed" facts, still preserving the effect while adding more credibility to the claims.

Of course, this is assuming they ''do'' look it up, and if they believe you the first time, there is no reason to assume this will happen.

On the day this comic came out, both {{w|MC Hammer}} (a pop rapper/singer popular in the early 1990's for ''{{w|U Can't Touch This}}'' with the catch phrase ''{{w|Hammer Time|Stop: Hammer Time}}'', and {{w|hammer pants|shiny}} {{w|baggy pants|baggy}} pants often incorrectly referred to as {{w|parachute pants}}) and {{w|Ralph Macchio}} (the actor who starred in the first three ''{{w|The Karate Kid|Karate Kid}}'' movies) were both 56 years old.

This is yet another entry into the "[[My Hobby]]" series. Note that in the other [[:Category:Comics to make one feel old|make one feel old]] comics, he did not apparently indulge in this new hobby of lowballing facts. As far as we can tell, those were all accurate for the time the comic was created. So if this is a new hobby, we may need to examine newer "feel old" comics extra carefully from now on.
