==Explanation==
{{w|Sport's Illustrated}}, while a sports magazine (from what the title implies), is infamous for its "swimsuit issue," a yearly issue that heavily features women wearing swimsuits (again, from what the title implies). There has been some controversy over how this issue objectifies women, yet we can all agree that this issue is not what you would want your kids reading.

However, the joke is on the father. Before he could stop the child from reading, the child had already exclaimed that he had seen hard-core pornography from the pop-up ads he has visited, making the swimsuit issue tame by comparison. Unfortunately, this is a true fact (though the extent of how true is this depends on the sites you visit.)

The title text has [[Randall]] suggest that pop-up blockers are far more important than "the birds and the bees", a stance that other people would find backward. (There is some sense towards this approach, however. While "the birds and the bees" would have to wait until the child has developed sufficiently in order to get the proper effect, pop-up blockers are a more urgent need that would prevent a child from looking at inappropriate things "ahead of time." Pop-up blockers alone would not prevent '''everything''', but they are a valuable asset none the less.)

The Ring is a horror movie released in 2002 based off the Japanese movie Ringu. In it, you watch a video tape. When the tape is done, you would receive a phone call saying you will die in seven days. In the movie, the main character's son watches the tape. In the comic, he one-ups the movie by posting the video on YouTube for everyone to watch. However, I don't know if this was intentional, in the movie, if you made a copy of the tape and showed it to someone else, you would be safe. This is not what the comic implies- in fact, it is the opposite.

The title text refers to the file format used by the youtube player (flash video), which is FLV. The girl in the video tapes (and the one that would call you) is named Samara. Even though posting it on youtube was a clever idea, it does force Samara (which would come out of the screen) to become heavily compressed (and perhaps distorted) by the conversion to FLV.

[I can't seem to be able to put in the image]

==Transcript==
<!-- The transcript can be found in a hidden <div> element on the xkcd comic's html source, with id "transcript".
