According to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paracusia Wikipedia], paracusia is a form of hallucination that involves perceiving sounds without auditory stimulus.

He is known for his soothing and mellow voice, which helps amplify his performances, such as God in [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0315327/ Bruce Almighty], and its sequel [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0413099/ Evan Almighty], as well as narrator in [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407304/ War of the Worlds].

The comic is a play on the combination of the two. The idea is that while reading a text, instead of hearing you own voice in your mind's ear, you substitute it for Freeman's voice, giving a new perspective on the contents of the text.
