I've never heard it called "checked paper" before, usually I call it "graph paper" or sometimes "grid paper" ‎173.245.56.180 (talk) (please sign your comments with ~~~~)

I also call it graph paper. As Randall and I are both from the USA, this may be relevant to how he thinks of it. Momerath (talk) 17:09, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
First it's not "checked paper" but "checkered paper" and a chess board is checkered. A "graph paper" or "grid paper" is finer, e.g. in millimeters. And Randall's first comics were drawn in a students' note-block with small squares -- or simply "checkered paper". --Dgbrt (talk) 17:40, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
In the USA (where I am from), we call it "graph paper" regardless of the fineness of the grid. I too never heard the term "checkered paper". I have added the description "coarse-grid graph paper" to the main article. Redbelly98 (talk) 20:40, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
