::::That box underneath the edit box. It's labeled "summary", sorry, I called it commit, because I've been thinking it was named after a source code version control thing called commit summary, or commit message. Anyway, it's the one line text field above the minor edit check box. Whatever message you put in that box shows up on the [[Special:RecentChanges|Recent Changes]] page, which is helpful to others to know what was changed on the page without having to go in and check the edit history. Please don't

Please do not create explanation pages without filling it out. If you intend to go in later and fill it in, wait until later to create the page. lcarsos (talk) 19:32, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Look, I was going to do it, alright? I had to go to class and left the edit page open. --Jimmy C (talk) 01:10, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
I'm still unsure how that ends up creating a blank page. Did you submit, then intend to fill it out, but realize it was time for class? Or, did you have the edit page open and a roommate thought it would be funny to touch your computer? If the commit summary had said something about you coming back to finish it, I probably wouldn't have jumped down your throat about it (as much, I'd still wonder why you submitted a page). It's just that us editors get twitchy about unfinished pages because there are too many anonymous people that come by, start something and never show up to finish it, so we begrudgingly have to finish it. lcarsos (talk) 17:46, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
I'm pretty new to the wiki scene, so I apologise for any problems you guys have on my account. I won't leave them undone like that again. What's a commit summary? --Jimmy C (talk) 19:13, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
That box underneath the edit box. It's labeled "summary", sorry, I called it commit, because I've been thinking it was named after a source code version control thing called commit summary, or commit message. Anyway, it's the one line text field above the minor edit check box. Whatever message you put in that box shows up on the Recent Changes page, which is helpful to others to know what was changed on the page without having to go in and check the edit history. lcarsos (talk) 19:38, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
