There's some disagreement here as to how much joking around is appropriate in our explanations.  But even if you feel that we should be super-serious, saying stuff like "maturity, please" comes off as needlessly argumentative. Also, I noticed [http://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php?title=900:_Religions&diff=prev&oldid=48118 this]:  FYI, MediaWiki ignores consecutive spaces, so it really just comes down to an individual editor's stylistic preference (and outside of MediaWiki, many style guides encourage double-spacing after periods).
