.....I'm conflicted
......
sometimes I can't help but wonder what I'd use admin powers for.
Do I even deserve adminship?
Almost certainly not.
List of user rights of administrators:
- Block a user from sending email (blockemail) well, the email system doesn't work, so...
- Block other users from editing (block) would probably use for the rare persistent vandal
- Bypass IP blocks, auto-blocks and range blocks (ipblock-exempt) This is mostly just getting unlucky
- Change protection levels and edit cascade-protected pages (protect) Probably useful, especially if people request a userpage protection
- Create and (de)activate tags (managechangetags) what are tags?
- Create new user accounts (createaccount) I can already do that
- Create pages (which are not discussion pages) (createpage) I can already do that
- Delete tags from the database (deletechangetags) what are tags?
- Delete pages (delete) pages to delete would never be the same again
- Delete pages with large histories (bigdelete) probably useful if a page gets moved
- Edit other users' CSS files (editusercss) I would not be the technical type
- Edit other users' JavaScript files (edituserjs) I would not be the technical type
- Edit pages protected as "Allow only administrators" (editprotected) well, duh
- Edit pages protected as "Allow only autoconfirmed users" (editsemiprotected) I can already do that
- Edit the user interface (editinterface) I don't trust myself
- Have one's own edits automatically marked as patrolled (autopatrol) I mean, sure?
- Import pages from a file upload (importupload) what does this mean?
- Import pages from other wikis (import) probably useless due to the outdated version #
- Mark others' edits as patrolled (patrol) ok sure
- Mark rolled-back edits as bot edits (markbotedits) are you marking your own edits or the other person's?
- Mass delete pages (nuke) why would I nuke the wiki?
- Merge the history of pages (mergehistory) what use does this have?
- Move category pages (move-categorypages) I mean, could maybe be useful, so sure.
- Move files (movefile) same here
- Move pages (move) I can already do that
- Move pages with their subpages (move-subpages) oh, that's actually useful!
- Move root user pages (move-rootuserpages) maybe useful, but unneeded
- Not be affected by IP-based rate limits (autoconfirmed) you're autoconfirmed as an admin. cool
- Not be affected by rate limits (noratelimit) even during my time frame grind did I get a rate limit
- Not create redirects from source pages when moving pages (suppressredirect) okay, sure
- Override files on the shared media repository locally (reupload-shared) brain no work
- Overwrite existing files (reupload) I can already do that
- Perform CAPTCHA-triggering actions without having to go through the CAPTCHA (skipcaptcha) I can already do that
- Quickly rollback the edits of the last user who edited a particular page (rollback) cool, useful for vandals ig
- Search deleted pages (browsearchive) oh, that would be VERY interesting indeed
- Unblock oneself (unblockself) now that just seems unsafe
- Undelete a page (undelete) Maybe useful
- Upload files (upload) I can already do that
- Use higher limits in API queries (apihighlimits) what?
- View a list of unwatched pages (unwatchedpages) i see no use for this
- View deleted history entries, without their associated text (deletedhistory) I can already do that, I think
- View deleted text and changes between deleted revisions (deletedtext) suuuuuuure...
I mean, some of those would be useful... fun, even!
Becoming an admin is my ultimate goal here.
Although, even if I'm good enough (which I'm not, and won't be for a looooooooooooong time), there's nobody to promote me, soooooo...
well, I'll just get better in the meantime.
