* Emojis don't work in databases?  They should be treated no differently from any other UNICODE characters.  They would be hard to type if you're using an OS/browser that doesn't have a convenient Emoji-picker, but I would think that they should work as long as the server isn't filtering them out. Someone once told me that on old email databases, you could send a message to "*@example.com" and it would send the message to everyone with an account on that domain.
