:::On the other hand, if podium and lectern are changed to mean the same thing, how would we differentiate between the thing one stands on and one stands behind? 162.158.78.82 16:15, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

::::One stands on a stage. :) All this talk about podium vs. lectern, where's the talk about the difference between a podium and a stage? I am unaware of any difference (other than "If it has a lectern, it's a podium"). I never hear "lectern" (outside of such discussions) and feel like at least 90% of the times I encounter "podium", it's to mean "lectern". English is a living language, it changes, it develops, and this word has developed to mean "the thing you stand behind". If one person says "podium" and the listener knows what they're referring to, that's what matters. Communication has successfully occurred. That's the job of language. :) NiceGuy1 (talk) 04:32, 12 April 2019 (UTC)

:::::Podium doesn't mean just "stage" (or better said, "platform"! Stage might imply a theatrical performance.), one can also stand on one of those podiums for 1st-place [in the middle], 2nd-place, and 3rd-place, as can be seen in the Olympics or other such competitions. See the dictionary definition: "for the conductor of an orchestra, a public speaker, the recipient of a sports medal, etc.". :-B -- 172.68.226.116 17:45, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

:::::PS When a word "evolves" to become ambiguous, I don't consider that as successful communication, since i no longer understand what the speaker meant. And no, context rarely helps. Having a "lectern" meaning in the dictionary entry for "podium" is just another testament to our species' laziness... :-| -- 172.68.226.116 17:45, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

::In my opinion the reason for the podium vs lectern comes from the person speaking not having to stand to read notes of operate their presentation.  Thus they can now speak from the podium, rather than at at the lectern.  Also a lot of podiums* are stages.  *anti-pedant point... When a word is adopted into English, English plural rules apply. RIIW - Ponder it (talk) 18:22, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

You have a vision for your Uncompromised Life life: But is there a basic fear in the way Other things can also get in the way of fulfilling your vision. Sometimes it's a fear of losing control. Or a fear of being controlled by others. And sometimes it's past experiences that are a trip hazard - such as losing control to market conditions (like what we experienced in 2008), or maybe you managed to barely escape invalidation at some point in your life, and then experienced a huge financial loss, anyway. Invalidation, fear of not surviving or losing control, financial loss... with all these hazards in the way, how are you supposed to bring your vision to reality?
 +
 +
You have a vision for your life: So how can you play to your strengths You also have amazing strengths. You DO have an incredible ability to survive financially and take care of yourself. You DO have an incredible ability to step out and take risks. And you DO have an incredible ability to recover from loss with stunning buoyancy, whether it's a loss in love, health, or finances. The power to bounce back and re-establish a beautiful life, and the strength to make the right decision and have reverence for yourself and that decision, is why you are inspired to go through the exercises of defining your vision in the first place. Because you also have strengths. So how do you find those strengths? It's surprisingly easy. We all have a natural positive energy that we were born with. And recognizing that natural energy means we can play to our strengths. This is one of the best and easiest ways to move forward with our vision and play to our strengths.

Whatever it is, there's a special strength inside you... that's the strength that will make sure you can weather any storm, and fulfill any vision. That marvelous strength is why you don't need to be afraid to step into the vision for your life! Your Turn: What is your most unique strength? When you want to get unstuck and bring your vision to life, simply go back to a recent success you experienced. There was a strength inside that success, and it still lives in you. Once you spot it, then go back a little farther and think of another success. Was it the same strength that brought you to achievement? As you make a list of successes in your personal life or in business, see if you can spot a pattern of one special strength that was present each time. That's the same strength you can use right now to propel your vision for your life!

Filter the Information you Expose Uncompromised Life yourself to Daily Start to filter the information you allow into your world. The less you are exposed to the negative information contained in newspapers, songs, TV etc. The easier it will be for you remain positive and for you to believe in yourself. Confidence Commit to lifelong learning and growth. As you grow your knowledge and abilities, you will gradually feel more competent too. With competence, comes confidence. As you grow and you knowledge and abilities expand, so too will your belief in what you are capable of achieving.
 +

Create a Crystal Clear Picture of Possibility Allow yourself to walk into the future and bring back a crystal clear picture of what you want to achieve. Use this picture of possibility, which you have borrowed from the future and to craft a vision for where you want your life to go. Write this vision down on a card, which you carry around with you. Read it as often as possible throughout your day. The habit of reading your vision and reminding yourself about what you will achieve will put a smile on your face and will drive you to take goal specific action daily.
 +

Your vision can be thought of as potential energy Remember when you conducted experiments in your physical science class at school. You would place an object on an incline. Whilst it was at rest and you did not take any action, nothing would happen. It only had the potential to roll down the slope, where it would turn its potential energy into movement or kinetic energy. Potential energy is saved up energy, waiting to happen or in other words it is energy, which is waiting to be converted into motion or action. So whilst you are observing the object, about to roll down the slope, nothing happens. It is only once you take action and give it a gentle push, that you observe potential energy, being converted into movement or kinetic energy.

Have a goal. Go into your presentation Uncompromised Life knowing what your goal is. What do you want to achieve? What do you want to have happen? Once you have an outcome in mind, you can be personally invested in making that outcome a reality. You need to be clear with yourself on your goals for the presentation and you need to communicate them to your audience so they can take action. For example, you might want to inspire your audience to:Do you have your own online business or want to start one.I have been online for a while now and I had some important learnings during this time. In this post I want to show you what I found which characteristics are important to become successful (in anything). Therefore I want to tell you a little story about me. When I was a teenager I was really successful in doing track and field (about age of 16 - 20).
 +
 +
I was Swiss Champion 6 times, twice in high jump, twice in long jump and twice in triple jump. What do you think does it take to be successful in sports and win competitions. It takes hard work, you need to work out several times a week. Sometimes you need to do always the same things... but this improves yourself, so you need consistency. And you need a coach who tells you what you need to improve and how to do it. You need focus as well, concentrate on the few things you really need.Of course it also takes talent. And, to win several championships you also need to have the right mindset and self-confidence. You need to know that you can do it, that you can or even will win it.
 +
 +
And you know what's the cool thing? I did not really actively realize that I need all these things... it was just there. My coach just told me what to do and I did it (I did not question everything or try to reinvent the wheel), was doing my training and was motivated at this age anyway. Well of course, you get a strong self-confidence after winning some competitions. But I realized what was possible if I just be consistent with my training.Of course I did not win every competition, so I also learned to lose. And sometimes I was disappointed about it... but did it make me stop doing it? No way! Because I knew next time I can beat them all and become even better! So what I just told you above you can use for anything in life. Do you do sports as well, maybe something else and have also won a competition? Or maybe you are playing an instrument very well, even play in a band that is on concerts a lot. Or are you a good dancer, a singer or an artist. For everything of them you need the same qualities as I mentioned above.
