| − | Hello! I'm new to the site, but I noticed that you're running a very old version of MediaWiki. I would strongly suggest that you update if at all possible. I myself am the admin for a MediaWiki website as well, and although the upgrade process isn't exactly what I'd call easy, at least compared to updating most apps; it's by no means challenging. I was able to do a complete version upgrade in under an hour, with no previous experience updating a MediaWiki installation. Admittedly, I do have a lot of experience with maintaining linux servers in general, but not much knowledge is required. There is a very complete guide on upgrading. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Upgrading I don't think upgrading the system would take more than one afternoon of your time, (although upgrading all of the extensions might take a bit longer, depending on how well their config options work across different versions) and it would help a lot with improving user experience and fixing many security vulnerabilities. Of course, you should also update PHP and any other software on the server. Yes, all of this combined will take time, and the site will probably have to be shut down for maintenance for a while, maybe a few days. However, in my opinion, it's worth it - either update now, or keep putting it off until the server gets hacked, or something else bad happens.
