The Core is a 2003 American science fiction disaster film that focuses on a team whose mission is to drill to the center of the Earth and set off a series of nuclear explosions in order to restart the rotation of the Earth's core.

The mission is only possible, in the film, because of the development of "Unobtainium", a material that can convert extreme heat into electricity that in turn keeps the drilling craft intact, and moving, within the extreme environment and powers a laser drilling array at the head of the craft. It is only with these improbable developments that this mission is possible. In reality, getting into the Earth's core is considered more difficult than getting to the surface of the Sun. (Which is in reality more difficult, even, than reaching Pluto!)

Randall has now expressed mockery, and ridiculed the movie, in several comics, and made reference to it a number of times. The sixth comic to reference it, 2877: Fever, prompted the creation of this category.

It is widely considered a contender for "all-time-worst 'science in a movie' winner" so it is not only Randall that has an issue with this!
