What if I left this wiki to focus on what's genuinely important for my life?

what are you[edit]

This seems vaguely relevant, though it's not directed at anyone in this conversation. —megan talk/contribs 03:07, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

why do you have no user page --172.68.205.119 08:19, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

because they redirected the user page to their talk page 42.book.addict (talk) 13:07, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
but why? why should she do that? 172.69.79.190 09:34, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
She has no wish to say anything, her*self but is neat enough not to leave that page uncreated/liable to being created by someone else in a way not wanted.
(* - presumptive, but it feels churlush to go with "theirself" and unwittingly perpetuate the concept of TANGOTI...)
The other answer is 'because she can'. And it doesn't break anything. 172.70.91.157 10:37, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
172.70.91.157: Actually, it's possible to automatically choose a pronoun for a named user by typing this text: {{gender:Megan|he|she|they}}. (Renders as: she)
TANGOTI is wrong with exceedingly high probability if you consider demographic evidence - of the billions of women, at least one uses the Internet. Also I contradict TANGOTI by being a "girl on the Internet", though I can't prove it to you unless we arrange for something where we meet IRL and I show you me logged in to this account. The costs of doing that, though, clearly outweigh the benefits of it. —megan talk/contribs 08:10, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
172.68.205.119 and 172.70.91.157: Hi. I'm surprised you came here. I don't really have anything to say about myself, which is why I don't have a user page. I created a redirect so my user page isn't a red link, which is seen as a sign of inexperience. —megan talk/contribs 08:10, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
Hi, as ...91.157 (whatever I am this time round), definitely nice to have Word Of God(dess) on this whole, ultimately trivial, issue. Would have left it to you, ideally, but for some reason I decided to contribute. Perhaps to save you the effort. Yeah, that didn't happen like that.... :p ...but nice to know my stumbling around was fairly close to target on pretty much all counts. (Hmm, does that sound smug? I intend it to mean that I'm relieved.) I don't disbelieve your gender at all, of course, I just hedged my bet a bit more than necessary in an attempt to be hypercourteous.
Aside from whether or not I might be (irrelevent!) I definitely knew actual GOTI back in pre-web times, when there weren't anywhere like billions of people OTI, and TANGOTI was an emperically disproved trope even before I landed on it. But perhaps it was more likely that proper girls' names, in self-chosen usernames, were more likely to be 'virtually cosplaying' males, as most people who didn't care to (perhaps falsely) advertise chose neutral names. And more than one of my known-female online aquaintences even chose a male-type identity - on occasions when I've 'presented as female' (just username, nothing more, in a MUD context) I've been 'hit upon' shockingly quickly that has (surprisingly?) never happened under my usually more abstract (or maybe male) choice of screen-name. And your choice of themetic name might have just been because it was the first name of any kind that came to mind, not already 'claimed'.
So I know that anybody can be anything (or claim to be anything, actively or passively). Rather than doubting you, I was just trying to anti-pigeonhole you. Clumsily. You're (probably) human, which is all that matters. (And, if not, I would find that interesting, but also not necessarily my business; even if it might be someone else's... like MIB, an exorcist, Dr Doolittle or any number of other AI businesses who need to play catchup.)
The reason why *I* came here to edit, BTW, is that I was attracted by the prior edits. I'm a lurker at heart. A long-standing trait, though one I don't always stick to, hence replies like these. I suspect .205.119 just got here through following the (non-red) link, randomly from an intriguing contribution. Sorry to impinge upon you more (once I start unlurking, I tend to rabbit... as you see). 172.69.43.244 12:18, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for replying – that way, I know I'm not talking into the great void of nothingness.
I see. You could just use the auto-pronoun thing that MediaWiki provides (registered users can configure their pronouns in their settings). I have mostly been a lurker, aside from a few editing sprees a while ago. I logged back into this account today originally to make a small edit from a place where Google services are blocked (so I can't complete the CAPTCHA required at every edit), but then saw that there were a bunch of new messages on my talk page and got caught up in this conversation.
Yes, getting "hit upon" is one thing that happens with being visibly feminine online. I just ignore such people, unless they're being particularly nasty, in which case I feed their messages into an AI chatbot I designed to make the conversations as interesting as possible. I do the same for scammers.
Most of the "virtually cosplaying" males that I have met online were eggs. Don't tell them that; just be kind and let them figure it out on their own.
The name is thematic and I don't use it anywhere else. (Elsewhere I go by "charmquark" or "tauparticle", though I have almost zero social media presence. Compound that with the fact that both names are also the names of fundamental particles, and you're unlikely to find me via internet search engine.) In retrospect, I'm surprised how lucky I was to somehow have registered such a short thematic name; particularly unexpected is that many other users have names starting with "Megan" but were created earlier than this account.
The edit I had intended to make has already been done now, but I'll have to find another one to justify writing this much text not related to the actual content of this wiki. —megan talk/contribs 23:26, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
