I've a feeling the (mostly thwarted) spam-account creator just used the same 'Lastname' for these. Or at least the one that uses for FirstnameLastname, rather than FirstnameLastnameDigits or the other obvious patterns. But I suspect you were being sarcastic, and already knew this. Long-standing script(s) that just keep trying to make 'legitimate' editors (which you'll see a lot of) that then fail to make (most of) the actual spam-ads/whatever.

Nobody really knows or cares if any are successful, I bet. Might even have been something that has been forvotten abut, just a botnet thing that there's still 'agents' acting for without anybody realising they're subtly compromised. If there were real people behind the accounts (albeit faking identities) with a reason to make them then we'd get the actual spams/whatever, of the kind that clearly is being blocked without anything other than automated roadblocks.

...I mean, we've definitely got the "crap" guy doing things at the moment (looked a lot like his/her/its style, then made a direct reference in a recent edit) who is apparently showing us what can be done without even an account. Because it entertains them, apparently (STSM...). That's just to contrast to the above, but also shows why I think it's not worth justifying either type of interloper, just dealing with whatever messes they create and move on.
