Admin access[edit]

You might try pinging Davidy22 if you still need access. I know he used to have an off-wiki way of contacting Jeff. --– Philosopher Let us reason together. 09:58, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Thanks; will do. -- Dtgriscom (talk) 12:26, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Possible Adminship?[edit]

Hi Dtgriscom, I’m Victoria. I’m planning on reaching out to Jeff via Twitter/X because there’s a long list of things that only he can do. You can see the list at my user page. One of these tasks is promoting more admins. Seeing as you had been a temp-admin before, and have asked about retaining adminship before, would you like to be mentioned in my message as a possible admin candidate? 42.book.addict (talk) 17:22, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

That would be great: thanks. And good luck. -- Dtgriscom (talk) 17:37, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
Hey, it's been a while. You seem to either be lurking on here or just too busy/disinterested to edit much. Unfortunately, we haven't gotten a response from Jeff or Lcarsos at all so far. Kynde was wondering, in the occasion that they do respond, if you would still like to be admin. ~~
I'm still checking in from time to time, and I would be happy to be an administrator. And, there definitely should be another bureaucrat on the system; we need someone active who can promote administrators. (Thanks.) -- Dtgriscom (talk) 16:33, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
Good to know. Another bureaucrat would require the intervention of Lcarsos or Jeff, who haven't responded. 42.book.addictTalk to me! 16:59, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
Another admin would also require Lcarsos or Jeff, right? If so, while they make me an admin they could also make someone a bureaucrat. (Might as well ask the question.) -- Dtgriscom (talk) 19:46, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
You don't (and can't) know me from any other IP, with at least one other person that appears to be in my position as a long-term 'non-username', and thus I should have absolutely no influence in this whatsoever, but I'd say ...if anything can be arranged, the obvious problems being what they are... I think you and Kynde would be both fairly good for promoting to 'superadmin' (i.e. bureaucract). You and Kynde have been around, as names, for almost as long as I have been 'IP'ing, and I remember your worth. (Not to belittle your own contributions, but I'd make a special mention of just how much Kynde has done, both before and after their 'elevation' to their current position. About the only 'complaint' I have, is that not so many of the pages marked to be deleted have been deleted (or officially unmarked!). But I appreciate that there's got to be some degree of caution, even with the ability to undelete any errors in that department.)
I then might have suggested holding off anyone with less than a couple of years presence being upped to 'mere' normal-Admin, as well. But I'll admit that some of the more likely candidates from two/three years ago, when we were dealing with a couple of bad spates of vandalism, don't seem to be around right now. Or at least not within the timeslot I searched back through. By this criteria, I'd not necessarily go with Tori(/'42'), etc, but... well, she seems to have developed a good head on her shoulders. Whoever ever gets to make this particular decision might well review her posting history and, on balance, like the cut of her jib!
I'm a bit concerned about Kynde and Favi's slight 'policy differences' (certainly trusting Kynde, I'd look for reassurances that Favi could work well), but... I still think it might work. Now, Favi's been absent for over a week, but... well, even in the ever-connected world of 2025, there's such a thing as a late summer-holiday where you're going 'off-grid'. Or, in the lead-up to the new academic year (might have started, might be about to start, depending upon locale) there's plenty of other things needing doing. I know I'm a 'mostly only on weekends' person, at the moment (another reason, apart from being currently only identifiable as '92.17.62.87', why I'd definitely not suggest myself), but a couple active admins and a couple more super-admins should be able to cover around-the-clock and around-the-calendar quite respectively.
Does that make sense, from a self-professed long-time spectator/participant? Not that it matters right this moment, anyway, and personal situations might well change, by the time anything can be done. Heck, even Ba'al might be up to scratch by then, eh? ;) Actually, I do hope that becomes not too unlikely a possibility. As the old joke goes "I wish I had enough money to buy an elephant..." / "Why would you want an elephant?" / "I don't, I just want the money..." It'd be the best of both worlds to have active people being worthy of adminship, even while there's no actual need to do so 'cos the existing ones are coping well enough. Hence, I suppose, for a certain contentment that it looks like we have possible candidates, but not any particular urgency over the issue of actually making those candidates into actul incumbants. Can't last forever, I know, but not an immediate concern, right? 92.17.62.87 00:48, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
Honestly you should be promoted to a crat too! if only you had an account :( (Btw, the "new academic year" here starts on 15 sept; my inactivity has been caused my activity on enwiki.) --FaviFake (talk) 15:24, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
If the mystery 82 IP had an account, I could see him as an admin/'crat as well. 92 and 82 have been prolific editors as of late, and they'd be great. But the main thing continues to be locating Jeff. --DollarStoreBa'alconverse 14:49, 4 September 2025 (UTC)
