In the image, there was a countdown, which began reading '''20d 22h 0m''' and ticked down every minute until only ten minutes were left. At that point, the image began shaking, and the countdown began counting seconds until it reached zero, at which point the final frame, which showed a snapshot of the book's cover, was displayed for a few minutes before the header text updated and the next comic came out. 

When viewing the archives, the countdown actually still functions, and follows the internal clock of the user's computer for 59 minutes.

** The link from the 5th though is from {{xkcd|1021}} [[1021: Business Plan]], the only comic archived on the 5ht to be found.
