They are is designed to offer a controlled Clear Nails Plus amount of dorsiflexion (pushing the foot and toes up toward your shins) which provides a gentle stretch to the Achilles tendon, calf muscles, and plantar fascia while you are resting. It basically prevents your foot from bending downward. This helps reduce muscle contraction and tendon or ligament tightening. It puts injured muscles, tendons, and ligaments in a better position for healing and reduces symptoms of plantar fasciitis or other problems that involve tightening of the soft tissues around the foot and ankle.

These devices have been used as an effective overnight treatment to reduce symptoms of plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, heel pain, heel spurs and reverse or halt progression of contractures in both children and adults. Night splints are generally designed to be easy to put on, comfortable to sleep in, adjustable to fit your size and constructed with lightweight material. There is a new trend in soft splints that go on like a sock, some of which work well to alleviate morning pain such as that associated with plantar fasciitis.

Some patients have trouble sleeping while wearing a splint. Another big issue is that according to the underlying problem, they may provide temporary relief only.
