On the store there is a FAQ page, which says:
- Where do you ship?
- We currently only ship to terrestrial addresses. At this time we are not able to ship to Russia or any other country that ends up on the USPS international services disruption list. If you do place an order to a country that is, or ends up on, that list we will likely have to cancel your order. Antarctica is iffy, though we have had some mixed success in the past.
- What are the shipping times and options?
- We ship via various carriers. Most orders to the US will arrive within 3-5 business days. International orders should take around 2 weeks. Generally orders should be in the mail by the end of the next business day after the order is placed.
- Are there any taxes or tariffs?
- Package shipped outside the US may be subject to local tariffs and taxes.
- What paper do we print posters on?
- 100# Silk Text
- What is the t-shirts do you print on?
- Unisex shirts are Gildan Hammer 6oz 100% ringspun cotton, except for the grey ones which are a 90% cotton 10% polyester blend. Women's shirts are printed on Bella+Canvas 4.2 oz 100% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton.
- Where are your products made?
- Our shirts are printed in the US on Gildan or Bella+Canvas blanks, posters are printed in the US, and stickers are printed in the US or Europe.
- Do you use AI?
- We do not use AI to generate any content or answer emails.
- Can I make my own *xkcd* or *what if?* stuff? (shirts, mugs, posters, etc)
- XKCD is under a creative commons license which allows for non-commercial use with attribution, so you are allowed as long as you're not taking credit for anything or using it commercially.
- What is your return policy?
- See the Refund Policy; but if anything goes wrong or you don't like the items please email [email protected].

2022 closure[edit]
In 2022, the xkcd store was shut down due to supply chain issues. On 2022-04-06, when asked about its closure, Matthew Smoot, the "xkcd order wrangler", said in an email to a customer: "Unfortunately the store is closed indefinitely due to supply chain issues >_<. As soon as things with the new book are more settled we hope to be able to give the store the attention it needs, but Randall is completely focused on book stuff for the time being."
The last day it can be found on the web archive was 2022-01-25. The link to the store from the links sections on xkcd disappeared 2022-01-29.
The next archived version from 2022-01-31 shows the following text:
- The xkcd store
- Will be opening soon...
- Enter store using password:
A password can be entered and there is an "Enter" button.
This stayed like this until 2022-10-06. That is the last saved version in the archive. The page seems to have been completely deleted after that, so there is no longer anything to save.
Several other changes happened to the links on 2022-01-31. That date is also the release day of the What If? 2 book, and of the comic 2575: What If? 2. Most likely the shop completely shut down on that day.
Relaunch[edit]
Around 2025-08, In 2025, the page was reactivated with a brand new design and it no longer showed a browser error. Initially, the xkcd store remained closed and was only accessible using password, but it allowed users to sign up to receive an email to be notified when it reopened. While the wording is similar to the version from 2022-01-31, the design was completely different:
- Opening soon
- Be the first to know when we launch.
