The Lord of the Rings is a fantasy trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien, which was made into a series of three films by Peter Jackson. The LOTR trilogy forms the main piece of an expanded Middle-earth universe which also includes the novels The Hobbit, which has also been adapted into three movies, The Silmarillion and other works.
