2957 Permanent Today's comic accidentally inspired by this Buttersafe comic from 2011! This comic consists of a crossword puzzles whose solution consists entirely of the letter A and nothing else. It's header mentions that he was accidentally inspired by a Buttersafe comic published many years earlier with a very similar premise. The phrase 'accidentally inspired' probably means that Randall was unaware of the comic until after the comic was published or until after he was drawing the comic. Alternatively, he remembered the joke, but did not remember the source of it until during or after the comic's creation. The comic was on the front page from Thursday 2024-07-11 until the next comic to come out on Friday [ 2024-07-12].

The text makes it clear that Randall did not wish to take credit from the already-done idea. It is also clear that Randall reads the Buttersafe comic, which is further supported by the fact that it is included under the Comics I enjoy section of xkcd's homepage.

2957: A Crossword Puzzle[edit]

This comic consists of a crossword puzzles whose solution consists entirely of the letter A and nothing else. It's header mentions that he was accidentally inspired by a Buttersafe comic published many years earlier with a very similar premise. The phrase 'accidentally inspired' probably means that Randall was unaware of the comic until after the comic was published or until after he was drawing the comic. Alternatively, he remembered the joke, but did not remember the source of it until during or after the comic's creation. The comic was on the front page from Thursday 2024-07-11 until the next comic to come out on Friday [ 2024-07-12].

The custom header text reads "Today's comic accidentally inspired by this Buttersafe comic from 2011!" The text makes it clear that Randall did not wish to take credit from the already-done idea. It is also clear that Randall reads the Buttersafe comic, which is further supported by the fact that it is included under the Comics I enjoy section of xkcd's homepage.

This header text is considered permanent, as the text can still be seen on the comic's page to this day.

2916: Machine[edit]

This comic, as with most interactive comics, has a header text crediting those who helped Randall create it. It was on the front page from Saturday 2024-04-06 (although it was supposed to have been a Friday release according to the xkcd archives) until the next comic to come out Monday 2024-04-08, but the earliest archived version of the next comic is from Tuesday 2024-04-09. It probably changed late on Monday 8 April, 2024, with the change of the comic from 2916: Machine to 2917: Types of Eclipse Photo.

The custom header text reads: "Today's comic was created with Max Goodhart, Ed White, Alex Garcia, Kevin Cotrone, Conor & Ami Stokes, Liran Nuna, Patrick, Manish Goregaokar, Benjamin Staffin, Amber, and Michael Leuchtenburg with physics by Rapier." Each name mentioned is linked to either their personal website or a social media account of theirs.

The 'Rapier' mentioned is the 2D and 3D physics engine used both in this comic and the Rust programming language.

This header text is considered permanent, as the same text can still be seen to this day.

2765: Escape Speed[edit]

This comic's header text is very similar to other April Fools' Comics, as it's purpose is to credit the people who helped put together the game. The text was on the front page from Thursday 2023-04-20 (although it was supposed to have been a Wednesday release according to the xkcd archives) until Friday 2023-04-21, when the next new comic, 2766: Helium Reserve, was released.

The custom header text reads: Today's comic was put together with help from Max Goodhart, Patrick Clapp, Amber, Kevin, Benjamin Staffin, and Janelle Shane. Most of these people have helped Randall create April fools' comics in the past.

This header text is considered permanent, as the text can be seen on the comic's official page to this day.
