Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who is widely held as one of the most influential scientists. He is best known for developing the theory of relativity.

Randall has made many references to him, and also drawn him in at least three of his comics. The first was called 1206: Einstein, the second 1233: Relativity (where the picture of Einstein on this page is from), and finally 2959: Beam of Light.

A joke used by Randall is that Einstein got his ideas while working at the Swiss patent office, because little to no Swiss patents had been registered, due to the fact that Switzerland hasn’t had a pressing need to come up with inventions over the years. This is mentioned in 505: A Bunch of Rocks.
